Camera Bag
I’m always looking for recommendations on photography equipment and accessories that other people love. In case you’re looking to upgrade to a DSLR, buy a new lens, or just for some fun accessories, here’s what’s in my camera bag:
My camera:
Canon Digital Rebel XSi 12.2 MP Digital SLR Camera
This is an excellent “starter” DSLR. It is easy to use, takes great pictures, and it not too pricey. There is a newer model than mine (more MP, yay!) and a XS model that is a little less expensive if you are looking for other options. I’ll admit that I’ve never used a Nikon, but I love my Canon.
My favorite, everyday lens:
Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II Camera Lens
This is the lens that is on my camera all the time. I take mostly family snapshots and portraits and it is just beautiful for those. I love this model because it only costs around $100. The low aperture setting creates amazing bokeh in the background.
My telephoto lens:
Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG Macro Telephoto Zoom Lens
This lens has been great for photography nature, animals, and scenery. I took some amazing pictures at our local zoo with this lens and I think it will be great for vacations (Grand Canyon, here we come!). I know that some people shy away from mixing camera brands, but I’m thrilled with the quality of the Sigma lens.
My Memory Card:
Eye-Fi 8 GB Wireless Memory Card
What’s great about the Eye-Fi memory card is that is transfers my pictures to my computer and uploads them to Flickr wirelessly. So while I am shooting around the house or when my camera gets back in range of my lap, it starts transferring automatically. It organizes the photos by date and saves me time by not having to transfer them later.
My Camera Strap:
To look a little cuter with the camera constantly up to my face, I bought a custom strap from Broward Patch on Etsy. Jen designs stylish, functional, comfortable straps that fit DSLR and point-and-shoot cameras. I own a few and have bought some as gifts.
My Camera Bag:
I’m completely in love with my Black Lola Epiphanie bag. I saved and saved and saved to buy myself this bag and it was worth every penny. It can function as a purse with camera thrown in or, now that I own a few lens, I keep my camera gear in it full time. The inside is padded with changeable dividers. It is comfortable and drop-dead gorgeous.
