Photo Story Friday
Bink’s first birthday was Wednesday. I’m working on a few posts with all the details and fun (there was a giraffe involved!), but I had to share this one picture. I had hoped to take Bink for some birthday portraits, but we didn’t have time to squeeze it in. In between the zoo extravaganza and heading to Grandma’s for a party, I took a few pictures of Bink at our beach. It was a spontaneous decision, since it was 90 degrees outside and Bink should have been napping.
I took a few hundred pictures, and a few others are pretty good, but this is my favorite. It’s the third one I took and Bink was fascinated by someone riding a jet ski.
He looks so small and so big at the same time. Like we’re right on the cusp of something amazing. My birthday boy.

I’ve had almost 38 birthdays, and not ONE has involved a giraffe. What a gyp!
You combine so many of my “rules” for shooting good pictures of kids: You got down into his world. You shot him from behind. And your horizon falls nicely into the rule of thirds.
Well done — it’s a great picture!

this part is awesome: He looks so small and so big at the same time. Like we’re right on the cusp of something amazing.
So true….so true.
Great shot. Truly.

That is precious! I love pictures like that…that capture such an important moment. Very simple, yet profound.
